Eye department of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Bhagalpur is one of the precious department as department has produced a number of doctors and scholars who havw a good name and fame in the field of eye not at the local level only but at national and international level. Department does not produce only a good quality of doctors only but also produces a well traied ophthalmic assistant who are giving their services to the different parts of the state and outside state also. Eye department is not only precious one but dynamic in its work as department does not provide its eye care services to the people of hospital premises only but also to the people of its catchment area which includes particularly the east and north-east region of Bihar and its adjacent state by time to time participating in different types of camps such as eye relief camp, eye awareness camp, prevention of blindness camp, either organized by itself or by government body or non-government agencies Besides these department is very capacious in its infrastructures which includes a separate outdoor wing, teaching wings and with a modern air-conditioned operationtreatre complex wing. Last but not the least department is proud that its ability , capability, sincerity and facilities have been recognized by MCI(Medical Council of India ) thus MCI has pleased to raise the number of students for admission from 50 to 100 in MBBS course. Hope very soon department will also get permission from MCI to start Post graduation Course in the department of eye .
