TB CULTURE & DST LABORATORY
Department of Microbiology, JLNMCH Bhagalpur
It is one of the TB Culture & DST Laboratories in Bihar, serving testing facilities under Revised National TB Control Programme. The Laboratory service has started on March 2016 and certified by National Mycobacteriology Certification System of Central TB Division, Ministry of Health, Government of India. The Primary responsibilities of the laboratory are: (a) Early detection of Drug Resistant TB cases (MDR, XDR, PDR) and (b) Follow up testing of Confirmed DR-TB cases during the treatment to ensure the effectiveness of treatment. Laboratory is performing both the rapid molecular Drug Susceptibility Testing (DST) and culture based DST for first and second line anti-TB drugs. Currently, our laboratory is serving 10 districts of Bihar for testing facilities.
The laboratory has been certified in the following testing modalities.
- Line Probe Assay for first line anti-TB drugs.
- Culture based DST for first line anti-TB drugs.
- Line probe Assay for second line anti-TB drugs.
- Culture based DST for second line anti-TB drugs.
